For a crisp display with picture–in–picture ability, try the AG Neovo X–20BV our “TopTenREVIEWS Silver Award.” winner. This monitor is agile enough for games or video and can display 16.7 million colors with notable clarity and shadowing.
This monitor has the best display ability of our top three choices, but does not offer USB ports and height or swivel adjustments like the NEC.
This monitor can connect either by analog or digital input and has an S–video and composite input. AG Neovo offers a TV tuner box that works with this display for television viewing. It is both PC and Mac compatible.
This 20.1–inch LCD flat panel is not as fast as the Samsung, but the AG Neovo has a good contrast ratio of 1000:1 and a dot pitch of .255mm. This means it has the ability to display deep, rich colors and present light and dark contrasts well.
Its response time is formidable at 8ms and the horizontal scanning frequency is capable of 94 kHz and the vertical 75 kHz. Most games, perhaps even all games, should not exhibit ghosting or jagged pixel effects with this monitor.
This monitor does not have speakers, but it does have picture–in–picture and picture-by-picture ability, it even comes with a remote control. With all of these features and a tuner box, this monitor has the ability to double as a computer monitor and a TV.
Unfortunately, this monitor uses a lot of power at 60W. If saving energy is important to you, consider the Samsung that uses only 36W.
Through the front panel, you can access the display adjustment menu; here you can alter brightness, contrast, color, sharpness, position, source and more. It would be more efficient if there were more front panel quick buttons, but to be fair, only the Phillips offers those.
Sadly, this monitor only tilts. AG Neovo offers an optional pivot mounting kit and a wall mounting kit, but we feel that the best monitors offer some adjustments without having to purchase additional items.
AG Neovo publishes product information and a user manual online. You can contact them by telephone or email; regrettably, they did not answer the two emails we sent them through an anonymous email account. However, when we sent them an email through our review team email account, they responded immediately and were extremely helpful.
This monitor has the aptitude to present a sharp, quick display for games, and if you need a monitor that can also be a TV with picture–in–picture, this is a great choice. However, if you need additional USB ports you may want to consider the NEC.
