This 20.1–inch LCD flat panel is fast enough to keep up with nearly any game and the view is wide enough to share with friends. It can display unbelievable light and dark contrasts and deep sinister shadowing, which is ideal for most games.
Connectivity:
This monitor has Ambix® dual input technology, which makes both digital and analog input data display with equal quality. It also has an S–Video port and an integrated USB 2.0 hub. The USB ports are well located for quickly connecting cameras, mice, joysticks or other peripheral devices. This monitor is PC and Mac compatible.
Display:
The NECs display is comparable to the AG Neovo, with a contrast ratio of 1000:1, a response time of 8ms and a dot pitch of .27mm. This monitor has the ability to display games with rich color and crisp contrasts between illumination and darkness. The AG Neovo is tighter with a dot pitch of .255, but few will ever notice the .015mm difference.
This monitor utilizes a technology NEC calls Rapid Response™ that helps the monitor display video real–time. XtraView™ produces a viewing angle of 176 degrees vertical and horizontal, so a number of people can view the game screen. The brightness is good at 300 cd/m2, which is bright enough to support the wide–angle views while not blinding or blurring.
The AG Neovo barely beats this monitor with a tighter dot pitch and only the Samsung is faster with a 5ms response time.
Features:
This display does not have integrated speakers but you can purchase front mounted speakers separately. The cabinet case is available in silver, black or white.
In terms of power, we discovered a few discrepancies; one reference related that this monitor uses 66W and another 58W. Either way this is nearly 30W more than the Samsung.
Display Adjustments:
Through the front panel, the menu can be accessed to manipulate the brightness, contrast, color, sharpness, position, transparency, fine, source and more. With a download of NaViSet™ software, screen adjustments can be made through the mouse or keyboard and NEC provides graphics, test patterns and instructions to help make the right adjustments for maximum screen performance. If this monitor is connected to a network, control commands can be sent remotely from a system administer.
Physical Adjustments:
This monitor can tilt and swivel as well as raise and lower 4.3 inches.
Product Support:
NEC provides accommodating, responsive and relevant support. Online they post a complete user manual as well as additional information. They offer customer support by email, telephone and through instant chat. We used their chat option multiple times and found their customer service informed and courteous. They also offer a three–year warranty for parts, labor and backlight.
Summary:
This 20.1 inch LCD flat panel monitor displays fast enough to eliminate ghosting and blurring problems and includes some extremely versatile USB ports.
